Between 1988 and 1991 Jay recorded three collections of cover songs. His choices reflected his eclectic tastes of the period. Most were songs that no one had bothered covering before, especially with an acoustic guitar. He had just bought a flange pedal for his guitar and he sort of got carried away with it. Most of the songs were recorded in one or two takes. The pieces below are a few selections from the three collections. Of note are the haunting This Old Car, the old chestnut Stuck in the Middle With You and the rollicking Frank Loesser tune Sit Down You're Rocking The Boat.
